It was attended by about 100 people.
And many were thrilled to wish Karen success on her next adventure - retirement.
Andrews has worked as the district's business manager for 13 years.
Before that, she worked as the Mancos School District business manager for 10 years.
"You have accomplished an amazing feat of maintaining fiscal stability for the district during our community's and our nation's deepest recession. No where else is there a district as fiscally sound as right here in Dolores," Superintendent Scott Cooper said Saturday night.
Andrews' last day is Dec. 31.
Dolores students are crafty
Parents and children who attended the first Dolores Elementary Family Craft Night last week said it was a good time.
The PTA put on the event and reported that they had enough people that attended the event not to make it too overwhelming, since it was the first time the organization had put on such an event.
The PTA is hoping to make it an annual event.
More crafts
Speaking of crafts, the Dolores Public Library will host a holiday crafts event from 2 to 3 p.m. on Dec. 22 at the library. Children kindergarten through fifth grade are invited to the library to create holiday crafts.
Back-to-back big nights
It will be two nights back-to-back of girls wearing pretty Christmas dresses and boys dressed in suits and ties at the Dolores schools. On Wednesday, the Teddy Bear Preschool held its annual Christmas concert.
It is always fun watching 3-, 4- and 5-year-olds perform.
I still remember when one little girl stood up proudly on stage and then fell right off the back of the stage. This brave little girl quickly recovered and continued singing her heart out at the concert.
I also remember a certain boy that cried and screamed the whole time.
Apparently, fear of standing in front of crowds may be genetic.
The Dolores Elementary program is tonight and is always well attended. It is often standing-room only, and it's always a blast to see all the kids decked out in their holiday best.
