For 65 years, they have lived and ranched on the Sheek family ranch, northeast of Mancos on the Echo Basin road. Part of the ranch included the place homesteaded by Clyde's grandmother, Martha Keener. Their home was once the home of George Menefee, another long-time Montezuma County family. Part of the ranch also included land east of Mesa Verde National Park, along the Mancos River.
After World War II, Clyde returned from the U.S. Army Air Corps to help his parents, Lee and "Dee" Sheek, on the ranch. Irene moved to Mancos, with her family, from Texas when she was an eighth-grader. Both Clyde and Irene are graduates of Mancos High School.
The Sheeks have three children: Wesley and Gary of Mancos and Diana Greer of Loveland, Colo.
They also have eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
