Tonight at City Hall, the public is invited to weigh in on both a 10-year renewal for cable service and regulations for mobile food vendors.
Ordinance No. 1193, Series 2014 and Ordinance No. 1191, Series 2014 are both listed for public hearings at the Cortez City Council meeting at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 9.
At issue in Ordinance No. 1193 is a franchise agreement with Baja Broadband, which expired Aug. 24. City personnel have recommended the agreement be extended for 10 years. The city’s projected revenue from Baja Broadband’s annual gross receipts is $21,000.
At issue in Ordinance No. 1191 are licensing, tax collection and location guidelines, for example, to regulate mobile food vendors and flea markets. If approved, the pilot program would remain in effect through the end of 2016.
Specifically, mobile food vendors would be subject to health department inspections and be prohibited from operation with the city’s central business district.
