Mobile clinics offering the Moderna coronavirus vaccine to anyone age 18 and up are coming to Montezuma County.
According to a news release from the Montezuma County Public Health Department, the mobile vaccination bus will return in three weeks to administer second doses.
The vaccine is free of charge.
Residents may make an appointment online, but appointments are not required.
The bus will be in Dolores on May 6 from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Joe Rowell Park.
A clinic will be hosted the following day at Boyle Park in Mancos from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The final clinic will be at the Cortez Recreation Center on May 8 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The mobile vaccinations are part of Colorado Gov. Jared Polis’ “Vaccines for All” initiative. According to a press release late last month from the governor’s office, the buses have the capability to administer 500 vaccines per day and each clinic can serve six individuals at a time. The idea behind the mobile clinics is to deliver the vaccine to communities statewide with people who may not be able to easily access transportation or do not have access to a car.
