BOULDER, Colo. (AP) The Boulder City Council has approved designating March 22 as a day of remembrance to honor the 10 people killed in the shooting at a supermarket last month.
The declaration of the Boulder Day of Remembrance was read by Mayor Sam Weaver at Tuesday's city council meeting, the Daily Camera reported.
The declaration states that it has been said that there are three deaths when people die when the body ceases to function, when a body is returned to the earth and when someone's name is spoke for the last time. By making each March 22 the Boulder Day of Remembrance, the city hopes to prevent that third death by asking residents to pause and remember the 10 people who died Denny Stong, Neven Stanisic, Rikki Olds, Tralona Bartkowiak, Teri Leiker, Officer Eric Talley, Suzanne Fountain, Kevin Mahoney, Lynn Murray and Jody Waters.
On Monday, police said they had finished collecting evidence at the King Soopers store where the shooting happened but that the overall investigation was still underway. Kroger Co., which owns King Soopers, is discussing plans to re-open or renovate the store based on feedback from the workers and community, company spokesperson Kelli McGannon told The Associated Press.
