A woman was found dead Tuesday outside a vehicle located hundreds of feet off Wolf Creek Pass, according to the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
A team of local and state law enforcement, search and rescue officials, and others worked Tuesday to reach the vehicle, which was off U.S. Highway 160 at mile marker 162.
Mile marker 162 is just east of the hairpin turn on the west side of Wolf Creek Pass, where there’s a popular overlook, a site notorious for car crashes.
CBI said the woman was found about 150 feet from the vehicle, a Ford Focus hatchback.
“The name of the deceased will not be released until positive identification and family notification can be made by the Mineral County Coroner’s Office,” CBI said in a statement.
Investigators with the Colorado State Patrol are working to determine the cause of the crash. No further information was available Wednesday afternoon.
