A 28-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary, a Class 4 felony, after allegedly breaking into a food truck at 11th Street Station and stealing an estimated $2,500 in cash.
The Durango Police Department said in a statement that officers responded to a burglary Jan. 25 to find a safe, cash register drawer, cellphones and more than $2,500 stolen. DPD said the break-in likely occurred just before midnight Jan. 24, according to surveillance footage that was reviewed.
Around 9 p.m. Thursday, a Durango police officer spotted a person matching the description of the suspect on the surveillance camera near East Fifth Avenue and College Drive. The man ran off into an alley, but was later spotted and contacted near East Fourth Avenue and Fifth Street.
The man was identified as Nickoli Reynolds. After a search, evidence from the burglary was found on Reynolds, according to police.
Police were able to recover more than $1,000 in cash, two stolen cellphones as well as customer stamp cards taken from the food truck.
Reynolds was arrested on suspicion of second-degree burglary, as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.
