Durangoan builds a bike company and a new life after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis
“Every morning when I wake up, I look forward to the day,” says Jeff Estes, owner of Durango Bike Co. A former professional cyclist, Estes now makes custom bikes while learning to live with multiple sclerosis.
Jeff Estes cuts a miter joint in a top tube for one of his bikes at Durango Bike Co., next to the Horse Gulch trailhead.
“I want to be able to take the time to deal with every single person on an individual basis,” says Jeff Estes of Durango Bike Co. Estes fits Jim Daly of Bayfield to one of his bikes.
Jeff Estes and his wife, Wendy Aber, opened Durango Bike Co. next to Horse Gulch trailhead last December.
