For Dolores resident Lauren Hall, solid results at prestigious cycling races just keep coming.
Competing in the Philly Cycling Classic on June 1, Hall was impressive from start to finish, crossing the line third behind American Evelyn Stevens and Canadian rider Lex Albrecht.
The Classic, which was held in Philadelphia, required competitors to complete five laps around a 12-mile course for a total distance of 60 miles.
According to Velo News, a final-lap climb to the top of the iconic Manayunk Wall helped separate Stevens, Hall and other top finishers from the pack.
On March 30, Hall won the Gent-Wevelgem road race in Belgium, cementing her status as one of the world’s top female riders.
Hall, a Mississippi native, resides in Dolores, where she can be seen training on local roads and trails.
Discussing her cycling future with The Dolores Star earlier this season, Hall stated that competing in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro was one of her top goals.
“I’ve already started preparing for (the Olympics) as far as races I want to win now,” said Hall.
“It’s a year-to-year process, and you have to back up until today to be ready for summer 2016,” she said.
