An outbreak of COVID-19 cases has been reported at the Purple Cliffs homeless camp south of Durango, according to state health department records.
The outbreak was confirmed Tuesday, according to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, after two residents had confirmed positive COVID-19 tests.
According to state guidelines, an outbreak is defined as two or more positive cases, within a workplace, in a 14-day period.
At the Four Corners Health Care Center, the state reports that a total of 22 residents have now died as a result of an outbreak first reported in late November. In total, 94 residents and 53 staff members have tested positive.
