California Baptist University’s singing ensemble “HOPE” will perform a free concert on Tuesday, June 10 at 7 p.m. at the Mountain View Baptist Church, 16302 County Road 30.5 south of Dolores.
“HOPE” is composed of eight students from the Collinsworth School of Music at California Baptist University whose mission is to minister through their music. This year’s group has several instrumentalists along with their vocalists.
HOPE recently returned from Japan, where they were ministering at churches and schools. They travel throughout the U.S. during the summer to perform at community churches.
“It is contemporary Christian music, and they also perform traditional pieces,” said Scott Hartle, Mountain View pastor. “Their show has a lot of variety, and the sound they bring is second to none, very top-notch.”
After the concert, auditions will also be held for California Baptist University scholarship opportunities for high school juniors, seniors, and junior college students.
“They offer on-the-spot scholarships, so those interested just need to show up and express interest,” Hartle said.
Founded in 1950, California Baptist University is a fully accredited liberal arts university that is affiliated with the California Southern Baptist Convention. CBU is the only Southern Baptist College or University on the West Coast.
