Toppled Civil War statue at Colorado Capitol to be replaced

Sculpture of mourning Native woman will takes its place
A statue depicting a Civil War soldier was toppled from its base outside the Colorado state Capitol and discovered June 25. The base is now covered with graffiti.
The Union soldier statue that had been removed from the state Capitol last June is now on display at History Colorado Center in Denver, Oct. 14, 2020. The Capitol Building Advisory Committee approved the loan of the controversial statue to the museum for a one-year period.
