Amid a surge in COVID-19 cases, La Plata County has reported four new outbreaks in restaurants and workplaces.
An outbreak, according to state guidelines, is two or more cases in a 14-day period. According to San Juan Basin Public Health, the new outbreaks include:
Steamworks Brewing Co., where seven people recently tested positive. The popular downtown Durango restaurant and brewpub moved to takeout only, days before a “Level Red” public health order was announced closing all indoor dining.11th Street Station, where five people tested positive. 11th Street Station posted to social media it will be closed until Nov. 27 because of the rise in COVID-19 cases. Some food trucks on the site may remain open for takeout and delivery only.Home Depot, where four people recently tested positive. A spokeswoman with Home Depot said the store has increased the frequency of cleaning. “We’re also disinfecting high-traffic and high-touch areas, as well as posting signage about hand-washing and other preventive actions,” she said.Applebee’s Grill and Bar, where five people recently tested positive. A restaurant manager directed inquires to a corporate representative, who did not immediately respond to a request for comment.Outbreaks are reported each Wednesday through Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s website. The four new outbreaks do not appear on the state website, because San Juan Basin Public Health missed the reporting deadline.
Other active outbreaks include: Durango 911 Communications Center, Durango Fire Protection District, Durango VFW 4031, the Fort Lewis College football team, Needham Elementary School, San Juan Water Works and Serious Texas BBQ south.
