Feds propose protection for rare plant in Mesa Verde National Park

Chapin Mesa milkvetch is found only in Montezuma County
The globally rare Chapin Mesa milkvetch, is known to exist only at Mesa Verde National Park and on Ute Mountain Ute land. It is proposed for “threatened” status under the Endangered Species Act.
Flowers of the Chapin Mesa milkvetch bloom in April and May.
Seed pods emerge after the Chapin Mesa milkvetch blooms.
