A fatal stabbing occurred at a residence on the Ute Mountain Ute reservation in the early morning hours of Feb. 8, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.
Keisha Meya Colorow, 20, died of injuries sustained by stab wounds, according to the Montezuma County coroner. She was from Towaoc.
“No arrests have been made, the investigation is ongoing,” said Jeff Dorschner, public affairs officer for the U.S. Attorney’s Office. The incident is being investigated as a possible homicide by the Bureau of Indian Affairs and the Federal Bureau of Investigation office in Durango.
Officials said the victim was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital early Monday morning but did not survive.
Colorow enjoyed softball, volleyball and dancing, according to the Ertel Funeral Home obituary. Known as “Keish,” she also enjoyed participating in the Bear Dance and singing at Sun Dance. She was the great-great-granddaughter of Jack House, the last traditional Ute Mountain Ute Chief.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 12 at the Ertel Memorial Chapel.
