5:27 a.m. A 2017 Ford F-150 was reported stolen in the 12000 block of Colorado Highway 145. The keys had been left on the floorboard of the vehicle and the vehicle contained a generator, toolbox, fuel tank and other tools.
Wednesday, Aug. 5
2:32 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of speeding, failure to provide proof of insurance and an active warrant for obstructing justice in the 10000 block of County Road 29.
Saturday, Aug. 8
10:26 a.m. A deputy investigated the cultivation of large marijuana plants in the 24000 block of County Road L.5. The plants appeared to be in excess of the allowable limit and were not secured. The case will be further investigated.
Tuesday, Aug. 11
7:53 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of DUI in the 10200 block of U.S. Highway 491. A report of possible DUI was called in, and the man was contacted outside a liquor store. He failed to satisfactorily completed roadside maneuvers, and a portable breath test indicated a BAC above the legal limit.
Wednesday, Aug. 12
7:58 a.m. The theft of four lights was reported in the 400 block of Central Avenue, Dolores.
9 a.m. A camper trailer was reported stolen in the 18600 block of Colorado Highway 145. It was last seen around 10:30 p.m. Aug. 11, but there were no witnesses to the theft.
Thursday, Aug. 13
9:34 a.m. A violation of a no-contact protection order was reported by a resident of Towoac, who said a Cortez man was calling and texting her.
Friday, Aug. 14
12:00 p.m. Deputies served eviction notices to several residents illegally living on a property in the 14200 block of County Road 22. The property owners also reported possible drug activity on the property. An investigation revealed a marijuana grow of about 40 plants and another grow of about 35 plants. Drug paraphernalia was found. The plants were cut down after samples were taken for evidence and were transported to the landfill for destruction. No charges were filed.
Sunday, Aug. 16
7:02 p.m. A found wallet was turned over to a sheriff’s deputy in the 1300 block of Railroad Avenue, Dolores. The wallet appeared to belong to a woman, but she could not be contacted.
Wednesday, Aug. 19
8:54 a.m. A stolen U-Haul vehicle was located in the 300 block of Central Avenue, Dolores. The vehicle was dropped off at return center, but had been reported stolen out of Kentucky.
11:32 p.m. A man was bitten by his friend’s dog in the town of Dolores. He refused to give his friend’s name or address. The victim reported that the dog was protecting her puppies and was not usually aggressive.
Thursday, Aug. 20
11 a.m. A man reported identity theft in the 14000 block of County Road 20. He received a letter from the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry in regards to an unemployment claim. He had never lived in Pennsylvania. The case was referred to CBI.
3:52 p.m. A shed caught fire in the 42500 block of County Road N, Mancos. Mancos fire officials suspected the cause to be a faulty lithium-ion battery charger. A nearby RV also was damaged.
Saturday, Aug. 22
4:10 p.m. A woman reported damaged to her vehicle that possibly occurred in the 6800 block of County Road 24.2. She believed the damage to be from a bullet hole, but the cause could not be determined. No witnesses confirmed firearms being discharge in the area, and no bullet casings were found on scene.
Sunday, Aug. 23
1:37 p.m. A found pistol was turned over to deputies in the 22300 block of County Road L. The gun was found in the middle of the road.
Monday, Aug. 24
4:15 p.m. A man was arrested on two active warrants for failure to appear and was cited on suspicion of domestic violence and menacing in the 400 block of Riverside Avenue, Dolores. A witness reported a disturbance between and man and woman and said the man appeared to be about to harm the woman.
