A fire at the Honeycutt residence on Highway 184 was a close call, officials say. The family fled the home after a second-floor bedroom caught fire, says Kim Jones, of Dolores Fire.
No one was injured in the fire, and the cause is unknown, Jones said.
"The home was saved, but had significant damage," she said. Mancos Fire and a Southwest Memorial ambulance also responded.
Twenty firefighters battled the blaze, which started about 1 a.m. on March 13, and fought the fire for 4 hours.
The property is known for its pet camels.
