Two men were arrested late Saturday and early Sunday morning after a family argument led one man to assault another with a hammer at the Junction Creek Mobile Home Park.
La Plata County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to three emergency calls beginning at 10:47 p.m. Saturday when police were called to the mobile home park, 535 Junction Creek Road (County Road 204).
Deputies arrested Javid Flores-Lara, 34, who is suspected of assaulting another man with a hammer. Flores-Lara was arrested on suspicion of second degree assault, said Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Wes Doughty.
Doughty said the man who was assaulted with the hammer suffered a minor hand injury that did not require hospitalization.
The cause of the family dispute was unclear, Doughty said, but the dispute involved a group of people, some of whom were unrelated to the family. Several people involved in the dispute appeared to be intoxicated, Doughty said.
Deputies were called back to the trailer park at 1 a.m. Sunday and again at 3:30 a.m. Sunday.
After returning at 3:30 a.m., Doughty said another man, Christian Medina-Gallardo, 22, was arrested on suspicion of felony menacing after it was reported to deputies that he had threatened someone with a screwdriver.
Doughty was unsure if Flores-Lara and Medina-Gallardo are related.
Both men were left in custody of La Plata County Jail.
