6:40 a.m. An assault was reported in the parking lot of City Market, 508. E. Main St. A woman allegedly was following a man and harassing him. A car pulled up, and the passengers confronted the man and pushed down a woman.
5:35 p.m. A hit-and-run was reported in the 1000 block of South Broadway. A black Mazda sedan failed to stop at a stop sign and collided with a vehicle, then left the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
7:54 p.m. A hit-and-run was reported at Denny Lake Park. A copper truck backed into another vehicle, then left the scene. The vehicle was not located.
9:53 p.m. A man was cited for trespassing in the 900 block of East Main Street. A man who had previously been trespassed from the property was allegedly harassing customers.
Thursday, July 30
6:15 p.m. A 2004 Chevy truck was reported stolen at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. Video surveillance did not identify a suspect.
Friday, July 31
8:02 a.m. Property damage was reported in the 20 block of West Seventh Street. Someone threw rocks through several windows of a residence. A homeless woman had been found in the residence the previous day but could not be located for questioning.
9:56 a.m. A man was cited on suspicion of driving on a revoked license, failing to stop at a stop sign and failing to wear a seat belt in the 900 block of East Empire Street. After a tip about a suspected DUI, the driver failed to stop at a stop sign he was pulled over.
11:15 a.m. A found wallet was turned into the police department. It was found in the 2000 block of East Main Street.
2:59 p.m. A man was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear after causing several disturbances in the 800 block of South Broadway. He was uncooperative and resisted arrest and officers used force to subdue him.
3:22 p.m. A woman was cited on suspicion of a red light violation and failure to provide proof of insurance in the 1 block of South Sligo Street. The woman made an illegal turn in front of another vehicle, causing it to collide with her vehicle.
7:14 p.m. A man was charged with menacing and resisting arrest at Southwest Memorial Hospital, 1311 North Mildred Road. The man had been aggressive toward medical staff and was being escorted out of the building. When officers offered him a ride home, he became combative and attempted to strike an officer. Officers used force, including several closed fist blows to his person, to subdue him and take him into custody.
7:39 p.m. A woman was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, third-degree assault and harassment in the 1200 block of Melrose Street. A man and woman were arguing and the woman scratched and hit the man several times.
9:01 p.m. A woman was cited on suspicion of criminal mischief and domestic violence in the 600 block of East Second Street. A man and woman were involved in an argument and she threw his Playstation 4 out the apartment window, causing damage to it.
Saturday, Aug. 1
12:34 a.m. A man was cited on suspicion of third-degree criminal trespassing, violating bail bond conditions and violating a protection order in the 1800 block of East Main Street. A suspicion person was reported. The man had previously been trespassed from the property.
11:02 a.m. Damage to a vehicle window was reported in the 100 block of West North Street. The vehicle’s window was broken, but no items were taken.
2:56 p.m. A man was cited on suspicion of unlawful possession of a controlled substance, violation of pretrial release, third-degree criminal trespassing, possession of drug paraphernalia, obstruction and resisting arrest in the 1500 block of East Main Street. A brush fire was called in. When officers arrived to investigate, a man walked away and refused to cooperate. He ran away, dropping several glass pipes and what appeared to be drugs, and was pursued. Additional drugs and paraphernalia were found on his person.
6:43 p.m. A man was arrested on two warrants for failure to appear in the 600 block of East Main Street. A man was lying face down in a parking lot and officers responded for a welfare check. Dispatch confirmed active warrants.
Sunday, Aug. 2
3 a.m. A man was cited on suspicion of trespassing in the 400 block of South Broadway. He had been trespassed from the property earlier.
9:10 a.m. A shattered back window of a vehicle was reported in the 200 block of West North Street. There were no suspects.
11:35 a.m. A vehicle’s front windshield was shattered in the 600 block of North Elm Street. There were no suspects.
6:39 p.m. A man was arrested on suspicion of violating a protection order in the 20 block of South Harrison Street. Suspicious activity was called in after several people were seen selling items from a car wash bay. A woman at the scene had a protection order against the man selling the items.
8:09 p.m. A woman was cited on suspicion of violation of a traffic control light in the 20 block of South Broadway. The woman ran a red light, causing another vehicle to collide with her. Minor injuries were reported. A small dog riding in the second vehicle was killed by the airbag.
Monday, Aug. 3
9:07 a.m. Property damage was reported at the Cortez Public Library, 202 N. Park St. A window on the south side of the building had a large piece broken out of it. There were no suspects.
Tuesday, Aug. 4
12:57 a.m. A man was arrested on a warrant for failure to appear in the Walmart parking lot, 1835 E. Main St.
4:43 a.m. A man was arrested on two felony warrants for failure to appear at Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St. The man turned himself in.
9:35 a.m. A man was arrested on a warrant in the 200 block of North Edith Street.
11:05 a.m. A hit-and-run crash was reported at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St.
1 p.m. A 2011 Chevrolet Impala was reported stolen in the 500 block of South Madison Street. The suspect was known to the owner, but officers were unable to locate him.
7:13 p.m. A man was arrested on three warrants for failure to appear in the 1200 block of East Main Street. When contacted by an officer, the suspect fled and was chased on foot. He was taken to the ground, sustaining minor abrasions.
