Ute Mountain Ute Tribal Historic Preservation Office is now online with a LinkedIn profile and a website.
History Colorado provided support for the development of the online resources. Both resources are free to use and are a way for the THPO to share information with people on and off reservation lands.
The Ute Mountain Ute THPO can be found on LinkedIn at bit.ly/390w1kK. The profile will allow the THPO to connect with cultural resource professionals and specialists that may work on behalf of the tribe on future preservation projects.
Visit the Ute Mountain Ute THPO website at www.utemountainutetribe.com/culture_THPO. The website will allow tribal members, the public and cultural resource professionals to access information on the culture of the Ute Mountain Ute people. This includes a history of the tribe, an overview of what the THPO does and important information on rules and regulations surrounding cultural resources on reservation lands.
These regulations for reservation lands include the need for permits from the THPO to visit archaeological sites, contacting the THPO if any potential human remains are found and reporting to the THPO if anybody is seen collecting artifacts.
