From left, Treehouse Early Learning Center teacher Shelby Caughey and the center’s director, Terra Sapp, exhibit a “superhero vest” worn by students as part of the LENA Grow program.
The LENA recording device is enclosed in a pocket in students’ vests, which are worn all day once a week. The data from the device is then analyzed, as a form of professional development for teachers.
The LENA recording device serves like a pedometer, counting words and conversational turns without actually recording what is said. It works in any language.
Treehouse Early Learning Center tracks improvements in conversation and conversational turns through the LENA program.
