The Dolores Chamber of Commerce as announced a community-wide yard sale and farmers market set to take the place of Escalante Days on Aug. 8, with businesses, residents, growers and makers all showcasing their products. The Escalante Days Bike Race is set to go ahead in the Boggy Draw Trail System.
Based on the July 1 guidelines from the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, the Dolores Chamber of Commerce board canceled the events around Escalante Days.
The current guidelines will not allow enough capacity to make the event successful. Based on the same information, the Escalante Days Softball Tournament has been canceled, and the All-School Class Reunion has delayed its event to next year.
Dolores residents and businesses will participate in the yard sale all over town, and farmers, ranchers and artisans will set up at Flanders Park for a farmers market. There will be a town map with sale locations available for digital download the week before the event. Printed maps may be picked up at Flanders Park that day.
Yard sales will run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and the farmers market will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., with some vendors choosing to arrive early and stay later. Businesses will be open during their normal business hours.
To sign up to sell items during the Dolores Community-wide Yard Sale and Farmers Market, visit www.visitdolores.com or stop by the Dolores Visitors Center, 201 Railroad Ave. There is no fee to enter.
The Escalante Days Bike Race will take place Aug. 8 in the Boggy Draw Trail System. Racers may choose from a 13-mile, 18-mile, 33-mile or 50-mile course. Racers will start in groups of 10 going out every minute, with the fastest ones first to minimize passing. Face masks will be required at registration and up until the race starts.
