Historical inventory recalls Cortez’s past

Post office, McPhee transplants highlighted in latest edition
The Blatchford House at 207 E. First St. was constructed in 1889, and is one of the oldest residences in Cortez.
The U.S. Post Office at 35 S. Beech St. in Cortez was recently identified as being potentially eligible for the National Register of Historic Places.
Three homes along South Elm Street were identified as also being possibly eligible for the National Register. The houses were originally built as employee housing in the old town of McPhee, but relocated in the mid-1940s.
