Unfortunately for the Dolores High School girls basketball team, the Ridgway Demons had just too much firepower.
Playing in Ridgway on Feb. 14, the Bears were overwhelmed by the Demons, losing 74-36 to fall to 7-10 on the year.
Struggling to limit Ridgway's attack early on, the Bears defense was gauged for 21 points during a first quarter that ended with Dolores trailing 21-8.
Things did not get any easier for the Bears in the second quarter as Ridgway added 25 points to their total to take a 46-18 lead into the half.
Although the Bears played better in the third and fourth quarters, the deficit proved to large to overcome as Ridgway coasted to victory.
Leading the Bears in scoring with 14 points each were sophomore Nichole Kibel and senior Brianna Schwartz.
Next up for the Bears will be a Feb. 21 rematch against Ridgway. The game will take place in Dolores at 6:30 p.m.
