Ranchers are having trouble scheduling their cattle for slaughter as the novel coronavirus has shut down processing plants across the country. U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton, R-Cortez, is sponsoring the Processing Revival and Intrastate Meat Exemption Act that would permanently allow custom-exempt slaughter facilities – think those smaller butchers typically used for wild game or local farmers – to sell meat they process directly to restaurants, businesses and consumers.
