The Mancos Valley Chamber of Commerce has been busy creating some events for the community to participate in. Yes, the weather has been cold, and we are all bummed about the Broncos losing so miserably. But, it's time to get out and visit with friends and have some fun.
Everyone is invited to come to the next "Mancos Cash Mob" at the Goodnight Trail Gallery of Western Art on the corner of Main and Grand on Wednesday, February 12, beginning at 5 pm. There will be refreshments served. You will have time to browse the gallery and share a few laughs with friends.
The question I still hear is "What is a Cash Mob?" The "Mancos Cash Mob" is a fun way for people to swamp a small, local business with a lot of business activity in one day. Folks spend their money, en masse, and give that business owner a rush of economic stimulus. You will see old friends, meet new friends, and enjoy some refreshments. The Chamber of Commerce intends for the Cash Mob to encourage residents of the Mancos Valley to stop in at a business that hosts the event and learn what that business has to offer. Stop by and join in the fun.
The Mancos Valley Chamber of Commerce is also preparing for its annual social and Citizen of the Year Award ceremony on Thursday, February 13 at 6 p.m. at the Visitor Center, 101 E. Bauer. The P&D Grocery and the Absolute Bakery Café are catering the event this year. Beth Wheeler, our local calligrapher, has created the art work for the award. You can see some of Wheeler's art work on exhibit at the Mancos Artisans Gallery on the corner of Main and Grand in Mancos. Everyone is invited to learn who will be recognized this year for their contributions to the Mancos Valley.
