Wednesday, May 13

9:44 p.m. A man who was bitten by a dog in an alley in the 600 block of South Washington Street was treated at Southwest Memorial Hospital for wounds on his left arm and hand.

10:22 a.m. A license plate was reported stolen from a car dealership in the 100 block of South Broadway. The dealership’s video surveillance did not record the theft, and there were no suspects.

12:12 p.m. A male driver of a black Chevy Impala reported his car was hit from behind while he backed out of parking lot. His car had damage to the rear bumper.

2:45 p.m. A man was arrested and taken to jail for violating a protection order at a woman’s home in the 400 block of South Chestnut Street. The man said he went to the home to pick up medication and clothes for job interviews.

3:58 p.m. A Honda CRS230 dirt bike was reported stolen in the 900 block of Memorial Drive.

Thursday, May 14

9:08 a.m. Officers responded to a report of domestic at a residence in the 200 block of East Seventh Street. A similar situation had been reported the day before, but the man had fled before officers arrived. Two officers arrived, and took a man into custody. A woman gave a false name and date of birth, and blood was observed on her hand. A man was arrested on six active warrants; the woman on one warrant. Both were taken to jail.

4:06 p.m. A black handgun was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 2700 block of Golf Course Drive. Several other reports of theft had been reported in the area. There was no suspect.

6:07 p.m. A shoplifting in progress was reported at Walmart, 1835 E. Main St. The suspect, described as a man in a black shirt, reportedly fled in a black SUV, leaving behind a cart of goods. After being located, he admitted he had taken items past the cashiers with no intention of paying for them. He received multiple summonses. He had no current vehicle registration, insurance or valid license, and the vehicle was towed.

Saturday, May 16

3:26 p.m. A man reported being harassed at a motel in the 1100 block of East Main Street. Responding officers observed that the caller appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance and did not find anyone harassing him. He was instructed to stop calling 911 to make false reports. He then reportedly phoned in two additional claims and was issued a summons. Motel staff said he had not paid for his room and asked that he be trespassed. He was given a copy of the trespass notice and escorted off the property.

7:15 p.m. An officer on patrol observed a black Ford sedan fail to stop at a stop sign, cutting off two other vehicles. During a traffic stop, the female driver stated she was on a test drive and did not have a driver’s license. She was issued a summons, and the vehicle was towed.

10:54 p.m. Officers responded to a report of a man yelling at a gas station in the 2000 block of East Main Street. The suspect previously had been trespassed from the property. Found later on a sidewalk, he was issued a summons and asked to leave the property.

Monday, May 18

1:53 p.m. A gray Toyota car and a gray Toyota pickup collided in the 1800 block of East Main Street. The car’s driver stated a pickup pulled up next to her and bumped her rear quarter panel. The male truck driver exchanged contact information with her, then went into Walmart. No summons was issued.

7:02 p.m. While on patrol, an officer arrested an underage man apparently drinking alcohol with a woman in the 800 block of East Main Street. The man confirmed he was underage, and another man identified him as his son. Dispatch confirmed the man had a protection order against consuming or possessing alcohol, and police took him to the hospital for medical clearance, then to jail.

11:57 p.m. A fire was reported about 9 p.m. in a shed behind a business in the 100 block of East Main Street. A man had been given permission to stay in the area while cleaning out a shed as long as he didn’t start a fire. At the shed owner’s request, the man was trespassed from the area, then escorted from the property. At 11:50 p.m., the officer found the man in the same shed, lying a makeshift bed. When asked to leave, the man became aggressive, then fell to the ground when officers tried to restrain him. He complained that his head hurt, and medics were called to evaluate him. He was issued a summons, then he left the scene.

Tuesday, May 19

3:18 a.m. An attempted assaulted was reported in the 100 block of East Main Street. Two men who were trespassing in a shed, allegedly tried to assault the shed owner when he confronted them. One man was known from a trespassing incident May 18. Both were issued trespass notices.

1:28 p.m. While on patrol, an officer observed a black BMW with no headlights, turn signals, front bumper or visible plates traveling westbound in the 800 block of East Main Street. During a traffic stop, the man admitted he was carrying a knife, and had syringes in his pocket and ammunition in the BMW. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Montezuma County Detention Center would not detain him, and he was cited and released. The vehicle was towed.

2:07 p.m. Two women were involved in an altercation at a motel in the 600 block of South Broadway. A man stated that one woman pushed and slapped his girlfriend, but his girlfriend didn’t fought back. The alleged aggressor complained about the girlfriend’s “trashy clothes” and denied slapping her. The girlfriend confirmed her boyfriend’s account. The women were advised to stay away from each other, and the alleged aggressor was cited and released.

6:25 p.m. A woman reportedly was throwing beer cans from an upstairs apartment into the yard of a residence in the 400 block of South Maple Street. An officer responded, but the woman refused to go to the door. A resident in the lower apartment stated the woman was disturbing the peace. The woman upstairs refused to speak to the officer. The officer planned to serve a summons later.

8:40 p.m. A woman reported an assault at Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St. An officer met with the alleged victim at City Market and later questioned witnesses, but the alleged aggressor was verbally aggressive and too intoxicated to be questioned. The officer intended to seek a warrant for her arrest.

11:56 p.m. While on patrol, an officer observed two women in Veterans Park, 830 E. Main St., with an open container of alcohol. One woman asked the officer if she could take another drink, and when her request was denied, she began drinking it anyway. The officer took the bottle and cited the woman for drinking in a park. The woman then walked into the road, and was cited for being intoxicated in a public roadway. She was released without further incident.
