Are there enough hospital beds for a surge?

Regional health care officials and emergency operators are still watching out for a possible surge in COVID-19 cases, even as the rate of new cases in the area appears to slow. Officials estimated a surge to take place April 24 but say they have the necessary resources, like inpatient and intensive care unit beds, to match it.
Here is the capacity update, according to the La Plata County Emergency Operations Center report Friday:
Mercy Regional Medical Center34 of 82 inpatient beds are available. It can double its capacity to 160 if a surge occurs.Six of 12 ICU beds are available.Animas Surgical Hospital12 of 12 inpatient beds are available. They can provide 27 beds during a surge.Pagosa Springs Medical Center16 of 17 beds are available. Pagosa normally has 11 beds available and is the only hospital in the region already operating under surge capacity.Southwest Memorial Hospital16 of 22 inpatient beds are available.Two of four ICU beds are available.
