While many of us are fearful of venturing outside, others are going to work every day to ensure our continued health and survival – at the hospital, in emergencies and supplying us with food.
My wife and her friends are at their sewing machines making the face masks and protective gowns that our medical workers can’t get anywhere else. (More information at Cortez Quilt Co.)
We can support workers at our closed restaurants by ordering take-out meals and buying gift certificates now to be used later when the restaurants reopen.
Difficult times bring out the best and worst in people. It’s true that some of us have not behaved well, hoarding supplies and placing others at unnecessary risk.
But mostly I see a community pulling together through simple acts of kindness, duty and heroism.
It’s enough to renew my faith in human nature.
