The Montezuma Community Economic Development Association has hired a part-time development specialist and has named officers for the next year.
According to the MCEDA, specialist Chris Burkett’s responsibilities include advancing development projects, referring businesses to resources and navigating government processes.
The MCEDA also announced that it has named Suzy Meyer chairwoman; Bern Heath, vice chairman; Larry McGee, treasurer; and Susan Carver, secretary.
Burkett is a former Cortez Parks and Recreation director and currently works as a grants administrator.
Meyer is a former publisher of The Cortez Journal and an at-large member of MCEDA; Heath, CEO of Axis Heath Systems and a business member; McGee, president of Citizens State Bank of Cortez and a business member; and Carver, Montezuma County planning director and a government member.
Two at-large and two business seats remain open. New board members will be elected at the MCEDA meeting at noon to 2 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 14, at the Mancos Community Center. Lunch is available for $12.
The MCEDA board is composed of five government, five business and five at-large seats.
