Commissioners, where is your leadership for our county in this time of uncertainty?
Where are messages from you that will inspire our citizens to know that we are resilient, that we are able to do everything possible to keep each other safe?
Where are messages about how our hospital is equipped?
How do citizens know what our Public Health Department is doing?
How about a daily bulletin on the county website that tells the status of COVID-19 in the state, in the surrounding counties, and safety measure reminders?
Repetition is OK. How about complimentary comments about businesses, government offices, etc., that are closing or keeping minimum hours?
How about publicly thanking the folks who are continuing to interact with the public at pharmacies, post offices, grocery stores?
How about recognizing that there are individuals all around our county who are ready, willing and able to help others?
A few minutes looking through Facebook pages reveals that we have wonderfully diverse responses to this new reality. How about reaching out to the Journal to encourage them to post messages that reflect the real picture and our county’s response?
There is so much you can do, so much that you should do. How are you going to show up as our county’s highest elected officials?
