My heart: Pete Buttigieg.
My head: Amy Klobuchar.
My gut: Michael Bloomberg.
I want a candidate who best reflects my personal viewpoints. I’m leaning toward Bloomberg. Immigration: believes in maintaining strong borders, offering humane immigration, and a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrants. Climate change: believes in investing in projects that offer sustainable alternatives while building a clean energy economy. Education: an advocate of solid public education and safe educational environments for all children. Advocates for charter schools that offer choices for those wanting or needing an alternative.
Gun control: has the courage to stand up to the NRA, supports stronger background checks and permits that keep Americans safer. On health care: a centrist’s view of citizens’ right to decide if they want to choose their health care provider or choose the public option.
On abortion rights: believes in a woman’s right to choose and supports Planned Parenthood. On infrastructure: has advanced plans for a “smarter, faster, safer and greener” America, while providing more and better paying jobs in the process.
Does it bother me that he’s a multi-billionaire and only recently a Democrat? No.
That there are allegations regarding his less-than-admirable treatment of women? Yes.
But, can he hit the ground running and does he have the experience and know-how to get things done? Yes.
No one individual fulfills all the criteria I would like to see in a candidate. But to endure four more years of the current inhabitant of the peoples’ White House?
No.
