Once again our county commissioners display their pseudo-conservative credentials. This time regarding e-vehicle charging stations.
They are enthusiastic about spending $330,000 on a charging station that will service one or two electric vehicles per day.
As long as it will be paid for through grants or whatever.
Money from elsewhere, dropped out of the sky. That’s $20 each for two vehicles per day in charging fees. That’s $40 a day revenue. And $330,000 capital, plus $7,000 per month Empire Electric charges. LOL! Do the math!
Empire Electric has correctly responded that it should not discount its rates to support this boondoggle.
E-vehicles at this time are not suitable for long distance travel across country in a state as large as Colorado. There are opportunities for technology to improve.
