On March 2, the town of Dolores will host a public forum on the ballot questions of retail marijuana shops in town and off-highway vehicle on city streets.
It’s 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Dolores Community Center, 400 Riverside Ave.
Currently, both are prohibited in town. Voters will decide in the April 7 election whether that will change. Presentations and a Q&A will be available.
A presentation is planned about the six retail marijuana questions posed to voters on the ballot.
Four questions ask whether stores, types of marijuana sales, testing and production should be allowed. Two questions will ask whether there should be additional taxes on retail marijuana sales and cultivation.
A panel presentation and discussion are planned on the OHV topic. Officials from Silverton, which legalized OHV use on town streets, were invited to the panel to share information and experiences.
The Silverton town manager and chamber of commerce executive director will speak, as well as the San Juan County and Montezuma County sheriffs.
Town staff will moderate the meeting, and the town board of trustees will be in attendance.
