Wednesday, Feb. 12
7:15 a.m. An officer patrolling near City Market, 508 E. Main St., recognized a man whom he knew had an active warrant. The man was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
7:50 a.m. An officer dispatched to the Mesa Verde Inn, 640 S. Broadway, to issue an active warrant to a man staying at the motel arrested him and left him in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
10:36 a.m. An officer patrolling in the 300 block of South Madison St. noticed a Chevrolet Trailblazer traveling the wrong way in the 300 block of East Fourth Street in front of Manaugh Elementary. When the officer stopped the car, the driver appeared to be intoxicated and failed several roadside sobriety measures. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI and was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
6:36 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the Starbuck’s at City Market, 508 E. Main St., for a report of a man throwing a chair at the coffee shop. An employee said the man had been a continual problem at the store, and when asked to leave he became angry and threw a chair and spilled a bag of Cheetos, frightening customers. The man was arrested for disturbing the peace and was issued a trespass notice banning him from the property. He was left in custody of the Montezuma County Detention Center.
Thursday, Feb. 13
9:49 a.m. An officer patrolling near City Market, 508 East Main St., observed a woman whom he knew had an active warrant. The woman, who appeared to be intoxicated, was arrested on the warrant and taken to Southwest Memorial Hospital for medical clearance before being left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
12:41 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Montezuma County Combined Courts, 865 N. Park St., to remand a man into custody. The man was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
Friday, Feb. 14
7:52 a.m. An officer was dispatched to Mildred Road and Empire Street about a two-vehicle traffic accident. Both vehicles suffered minor damage. One driver said he could not stop in time because of issues with his manual transmission. The man was cited for careless driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured vehicle and failing to provide proof of registration.
10:56 a.m. An officer patrolling in the 700 block of West Seventh Street observed a black and silver Ford F-250 that appeared to be speeding. The driver had two active warrants. He was issued a summons for speeding, arrested on the warrants and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
2:54 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Montezuma County Detention Center, 730 E. Driscoll St., to issue an active warrant to a male inmate.
10:01 p.m. An officer was on patrol in the initial block of North Madison Street when he observed a driver of a Honda failing to use his turn signal. The officer followed the vehicle, and the driver failed to use the turn signal several times. The driver was stopped. He had an active warrant, and he was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
10:26 p.m. An officer was dispatched to South Market Street and West Second Street about a report of a suspicious person. The man appeared intoxicated and had an open container of Taaka vodka. The man was arrested for having an open container. After being medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital, he was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
Saturday, Feb. 15
12:39 a.m. An officer on patrol in the 900 block of South Oak Street stopped a white SUV that had been driving erratically and failing to stay in a lane. The female driver appeared to be intoxicated, and she failed several roadside sobriety measures. She was arrested for suspicion of DUI and cited for failing to drive in a single lane and driving with a defective headlamp. She was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
12:07 p.m. An officer responded to a several calls concerning a reckless driver in the 2500 block of East Main Street. The officer stopped a Ford Escape, but the driver and a passenger were uncooperative and refused to obey commands from the officer. The driver left the vehicle and approached the officer, who had drawn his weapon. The driver continued to disregard commands, and the officer took the man down using closed fist strikes before handcuffing him. Officers and a Colorado State Patrol trooper who arrived at the scene arrested the passenger, who also was uncooperative. The driver was arrested for DUI, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and obstruction of a police officer. The passenger was arrested for resisting arrest and obstructing a police officer. Both were left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
6:22 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Wendy’s, 221 E. Main St., about an intoxicated man who refused to leave. The suspect was in violation of a protection order banning the consumption of alcohol. He was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
6:16 p.m. An officer was dispatched to Liquid Assets, 718 E. Main St., about a report of a man breaking into cars. The officer recognized a woman who is frequently mistaken for a male because of her attire. The woman had several active warrants and appeared intoxicated. She was arrested and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
5:59 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the 500 block of Elm Street about a possible house break-in. Two men were apprehended in the house after an officer noticed a door had been kicked open. The homeowner was contacted, and he arrived to look at the house. He said nothing was missing, but a room in the back had been ransacked and a plate of little value was broken. The men were arrested for second-degree burglary and left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
10:39 p.m. An officer was dispatched to East Arbecam Street and Washington Street about a report of a suspicious person. A woman in a Honda Accord was parked halfway on the sidewalk. En route, the dispatcher had advised the officer that the woman was driving in circles and narrowly missed several cars. When the officer approached the woman, he discovered her with her head slumped on the steering wheel of the stopped car. He observed about 20 open shot bottles in the car, and the woman appeared intoxicated. The woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI, DUI per se and careless driving. After being medically cleared, she was issued a breath analysis test that showed a blood-alcohol level of 0.314. She was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
Monday, Feb. 17
4:59 p.m. An officer was dispatched to City Market, 508 E. Main St., about a fight. A man who had been contacted several times that day by officers and who appeared intoxicated had “danced” around the entrance to the store, then took a swing at a man at the north entrance. The man was issued a breath analysis test that showed a blood alcohol level of 0.347. After being medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital, he was arrested for disturbing the peace and was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
9:40 p.m. An officer was dispatched to the Econolodge, 2020 E. Main St., about a guest. A man allegedly was disturbing guests. He appeared intoxicated smelled of alcohol. He was medically cleared at Southwest Memorial Hospital, where he was belligerent with staff. He was arrested for violating conditions of a bond and several protection orders banning the consumption of alcohol. He was left in custody of Montezuma County Detention Center.
