Cortez Chamber of Commerce will host a Power Breakfast from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Feb. 11 at First National Bank, 2258 E. Main St.
The breakfast will feature a discussion on active listening skills in the workplace, facilitated by Ellen Babers of Mountain Mesa Training. Learn how people listen and how they don’t and why people are hardwired to make up stories or grocery lists while others are talking. Learn three ways to improve your active listening and hear.
For Babers, a college trip to North Carolina evolved into 18 years as a raft guide and canoe and kayak instructor. Her passion for whitewater led to organizing international rafting competitions, which then led to 10 years developing high-performance management teams for the Olympic Games. As chief instigator for Mountain Mesa Training, she develops managers and leaders for rural businesses and facilitates difficult conversations.
Cost for the breakfast is $7 for chamber members, $9 for nonmembers and $2 for coffee/tea only.
