The Mancos 2019 Giving Tree fulfilled its 22nd season of providing Christmas gifts to residents in the Mancos Valley who needed some assistance with their holidays.
We updated our procedures this year with a new database and computer-generated ornaments with much more information.
We also had wonderful volunteers helping to wrap and sort, including nine Alpaca Raft employees, the Mancos Junior and Cadet Girl Scout troops and several families who chose to spend some of their break time helping.
I especially want to thank Jim Paquin for graciously letting us use his building in Mancos, complete with heat and lights.
I also want to thank the businesses that let us put ornament trees in their locations.
This year we had trees at P&D, Zuma, the Mancos branch of the Dolores State Bank, the Artisans of Mancos, the Columbine Bar, the library and the Absolute Bakery.
Thanks also to Raven House Gallery, the Artisans of Mancos and the Columbine Bar for being drop-off locations for the gifts, and to the Mancos High School National Honor Society for supplementing our gifts with their toy drive.
Thanks to Mancos Valley Resources and the Mancos Chamber of Commerce for advertising, and to the Mancos marshall’s office for helping with deliveries.
Last but not least, thanks to the people of Mancos for their contributions and support. This community really came together again for this wonderful project. We couldn’t do it without our community support!
See you next Christmas!
