Authorities in Montezuma County and Cortez reported a stolen vehicle and car chase this week.
On Jan. 2, a van from a home on Road H was reported stolen, said Montezuma County Sheriff Steve Nowlin. The keys to the van were taken from inside the house. A suspect was arrested in Towaoc, Nowlin said.On Jan. 3, Cortez Police responded to a theft of beer from Safeway about 11 a.m. and pursued a suspect vehicle down South Broadway. According to scanner reports, the suspect vehicle reached 100 mph and occupants were throwing out beer cans. The police dropped the pursuit out of public safety concerns. Law enforcement in Arizona and New Mexico were alerted to the vehicle description. The case remained under investigation.
