Once again it’s election time, bond issues crowd the ballots, always asking the same thing.
We just got to have more money. It has gotten to the point that you can’t believe anything these boards of directors say. The empire board has got to have a new shop, $5.5 million later, we have an eyesore on Highway 491. The new high school election and it really makes you peeved when the superintendent said we could have fixed the boiler for $35,000 and installed a new roof for $5 million and instead people got suckered for a new school. I mean, they walk around with their hat in their hand, we fill it up and instead of making do, they get a bigger hat. Like the sign says it’s never enough.
Now the Lewis-Arriola fire wants to build a new firehouse. The current on e is about to fall down. (They learned that from the school board). To go from $280,000 to $421,729 –that’s a complete disgrace. They don’t need it, their fire trucks are reasonably new and the fire stations can be repaired, and they want this to continue for eternity. You can’t trust what the boards of directors say. No lie too big to tell and no lie too big to believe. No more bond issues, let’s put this on the ballot; Shall bond issues in Montezuma County be suspended for a term of 100 years, and only to be overturned by a vote of 95 percent of the voters. Vote against all.
