MASKS & MYSTERY: We have had tremendous response to the theme of this show. To date, we will be showing 18 artists from the Americas from the collections of Kelly Kilgore, Sarah Allen and Betsy Harrison. The show opens with a Reception for the Artists from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct.11.
OPEN STUDIO TOURS: For the fifth year, the artists of Durango are opening their studios to the public. It's all happening Oct. 19-20 all over Durango and environs. The map and other information will be posted on the tour's website which is, naturally, www.durangoopenstudios.com. I do know there will be a lot of demonstrations at the various studios. It's always great to see how the artists do what they do. Check for all the schedules on the site in a week or so.
The fifth annual Durango Open Studios Tour and Art Sale is happening on Saturday, Oct. 19, and Sunday, Oct. 20, all over Durango, Bayfield and Ignacio with 22 artists and craftsmen exhibiting and demonstrating at their studios. The Tour will be open both days from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The opening reception - "Open Doors-A Taster Exhibition of Durango Open Studios" will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, in the Barbara Conrad Gallery at the Durango Arts Center. Stop by to meet the artists and view their work, pick up a copy of the Tour Map and check out scheduled demonstrations throughout the Studio Tour. CORTEZ CULTURAL CENTER JURIED ARTS SHOW: This exhibit will open Nov. 3, with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Nov. 8. Appetizers, refreshments and cash bar will be offered.
Call to Artists both professional and amateur in fine art, photography and 3-D art. The awards will be "Best of Show" with a prize of $100, and prizes and recognition for the best amateur and professional work. Additionally, there will be a "People's Choice" award with ballots available on the first day of the exhibit, winners announced on the final day of the exhibit.
