I just finished the article “Median home prices up in Cortez, Montezuma County” (Oct. 30). It states how home inventory is down, causing prices to go up. But I am confused here.
Last year, when I called the county and asked why my property taxes went up so much year over year, it was explained that there were no homes for sale in the county. I went on line to zillow.com , a multi-listing compilation service, and found 327 homes for sale.
Today, I went online and there are 422 homes for sale – a 22% increase.
I see homes with “for sale” signs that seems to be there for years.
So something just does not seem right with the logic in the article. Is it real, or hype to drive prices up?
