A mountain of tires is being shredded for use as alternative daily cover at the Montezuma County Landfill. A tire collection project brought in 25,000 used tires from the community.

About 5,000 tires on the Ute Mountain Tribe in Towaoc were recently shredded by the tribe’s environmental department for recycling purposes.
