The Farmington Chamber of Commerce will hold a “Chile in October Challenge” fundraiser from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 5 in Berg Park along the Animas River.
The event will attempt to settle the dispute of which state has the best chile, Colorado or New Mexico.
The Farmington Chamber of Commerce, which has hosted this popular event for over a decade, is calling for cooks to compete in five categories: red chile, green chile, home-style, posole and salsa
The event will include live music and Distil’s Beer Tasting Garden.
Cash prizes will be given to the winners each category and the winner of the People’s Choice Award.
Cooks should register for free at the Farmington Chamber of Commerce website. Colorado cooks are encouraged to participate. All chiles used in the challenge must be from Colorado or New Mexico.
Winners of each category and the People’s Choice Award will be determined by a vote of tasters. Tasters must purchase a ticket entitling them to five samples to vote for the best chiles.
