Colorado Parks and Wildlife is sponsoring a chukar hunt for young hunters in late September.
The event is free and will be limited to 20 hunters.
Advance registration is required.
The one-day event is designed for novices and intended to introduce youngsters to hunting. To be eligible, participants must be 12 to 17 years old, possess a valid hunter safety card, a small-game hunting license and have approval of a parent or guardian.
The hunt will be held Sept. 28 at the Lone Dome State Wildlife area, which is below the McPhee Reservoir dam in Montezuma and Dolores counties.
