He helped shape Durango into the city it is today

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, at St. Columba Catholic Church, 1830 East Second Ave. A reception will be held afterward at noon at the DoubleTree Hotel.
Gordon Michael “Mickey” Hogan was born to Charles D. and Georgie Mary (Ruffie) Hogan on Oct. 5, 1929, in Durango. After graduating from St. Columba Catholic School, he graduated from Durango High School in 1947. An avid sportsman in high school, Hogan was a member of a football team that made it to the state finals and a basketball team that won the state championship during his senior year.
After graduating from the University of Colorado, Hogan worked for the national accounting firm Arthur Anderson in Los Angeles and passed the certified public accountant test. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954.
On Aug. 15, 1954, he married Maureen A. Mahoney in Stockton, California. She preceded him in death after almost 45 years of marriage.
Hogan was also preceded in death by his son Daniel in 2016.
He is survived by his children Mary Beth Emrich, Sharon Hogan, Stephen Hogan and Charles Hogan; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Fort Lewis College Foundation or Hospice of Mercy.
