The Kellogg-Briand Pact was signed on Aug. 27, 1928. The Kellogg-Briand Pact outlaws war as a tool of foreign policy. The United States is still legally bound by this treaty, which commits nations to resolve conflicts peacefully.
Martin Luther King Jr. called the United States “the greatest purveyor of violence in the world.”
That remains true today.
U.S. military imperialism has been responsible for more than 20 million deaths through war crimes against the people of 37 nations since the end of World War II.
The United States has established the most extensive military empire in history with about 800 foreign military bases.
All wars and acts of aggression by the United States since 1928 have violated the Kellogg-Briand Pact and the United Nations Charter since it was signed in 1945.
The United States should uphold the Kellogg-Briand Pact, shut down all of its foreign military bases, restrict its military to non-offensive defense of U.S. territory, abolish its weapons of mass destruction and eliminate foreign military aid.
U.S. foreign policy should focus strictly on humanitarian aid, respect for human rights, fair trade, and support for environmental sustainability.
The United Nations adopted the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons in 2017. The United States has about 6,185 nuclear warheads. It should ratify this treaty and abolish its nuclear weapons.
