A motorcyclist was injured about 3:30 p.m. Friday after being rear-ended on U.S. Highway 160 east of Cortez.
According to a witness, a westbound motorcyclist was making a left turn into the KOA Campground when she was rear-ended by a pickup truck.
She was transported to Southwest Memorial Hospital, but her injuries were not life-threatening, according to EMS officials at the scene.
The motorcycle stayed upright but was lodged under the truck’s front bumper. Cortez Fire Protection District crews used a hydraulic spreader to help free the bike. The collision is under investigation.
Traffic was delayed about 20 minutes in both directions while the accident was investigated and vehicles moved off the roadway. A roadblock was set up at the intersection of Colorado Highway 145 and U.S. 160 to divert traffic.
The Cortez Fire Protection District, Cortez Police Department, Montezuma County Sheriff’s Office and Southwest Health System ambulance responded to the scene.
