Purgatory Ski Resort will host its annual Summer Brew festival July 6 at the resort’s ski beach with help from title sponsor Liquor World.
The festival, which focuses on seasonal and summertime brews, will feature 25 craft beers from around the state, Purgatory Event’s Manager Matthew Krichman said. Nonalcoholic beverage options and food will be provided by Purgatory.
State 38, a Colorado-based band, will play during the festival.
A total of 300 tickets can be purchased online at www.purgatoryresort.com for $18 per adult. Remaining tickets can be purchased at the door for $25.
Attendees will be given a commemorative tasting glass and unlimited tastings, Krichman said.
Krichman described the event as something unique in the beer festival category, and a niche event that the resort felt needed to be filled.
“We consider this an intimate experience for the guests,” Krichman said. “Some festivals will have 2,000 plus people there, but this setup allows for a more relaxing and fun experience that everyone can enjoy.”
The 300 ticket limit means guests can focus on enjoying the beers instead of standing in lines or wading through crowds, Krichman said.
Having 25 beers available to try as opposed to dozens also allows guests to focus on enjoying the individual beers, and not on racing to taste every single one before time runs out, Krichman said.
“The structure creates something relaxing and a little less wild than you might see in other festivals,” Krichman said.
The event will be family-oriented, Krichman said, and people are encouraged to bring their children to enjoy the music and ambiance of the resort.
Liquor World owner Sherry Wertz said she has sponsored the event in the past and will continue to into the future because it encourages the community to come together.
“It’s just bringing people all together to try good beer and have fun,” Wertz said. “And there’s no place better to have it than up at Purgatory.”
