Special Counsel Robert Mueller made a public statement on May 29. In it, he outlined six facts discovered during the investigation into the president.
1) Russia significantly interfered with our elections in 2016, hoping for a Trump win.
2) There was insufficient evidence to prove a conspiracy.
3) There was abundant evidence of collusion with Russia, and a desire by Trump to do so.
4) Trump obstructed justice over 10 times. At least four of those acts are indictable.
5) It is for Congress and Congress alone to decide on obstruction guilt.
6) Mueller did not bring charges because he was unable to do so under Department of Justice guidelines.
Attorney General William Barr’s sycophantic exoneration of the president is irrelevant. The DOJ has no power to clear Trump of anything.
The president has clearly committed high crimes and misdemeanors, as well as other serous offenses, and is now refusing to acknowledge Congress’ constitutional duty to oversee the executive branch.
An impeachment inquiry is justified and overdue.
It is past time for the House to act.
