First rodeo night features military tribute

Event kicks off with traditional competitions, tribute to Green Beret
A riderless horse was brought into the fairgrounds arena in honor of fallen soldier Will Lindsay.
The first night for the Ute Mountain Roundup Rodeo was themed Military Appreciation Night and included a special tribute to fallen Cortez soldier Will Lindsay. Lindsay’s family rode in on a horse-drawn carriage during the event’s opening ceremonies.
This year marks the 89th anniversary for the annual rodeo.
Daredevil clown and barrelman Troy Lerwill provided comic relief at the rodeo.
